Phased Ucrete Flooring Refurb Allows Continued Production…

Last week saw us commence another phased Ucrete flooring refurb of a food production facility. These installs are never the easiest to work on & never the cheapest for the client, but as they allow production to continue they end up being the most cost effective!

Rapid Curing…

This project involves removal of failing coatings in the Oven Hall & Mixing Area of a busy bakery. Ucrete UD200 has been chosen to replace it – chosen in part due to it’s rapid curing. It is possible to return a UD200 floor to service within 4 hours.

One of the two ovens in the area remained operational. Our guys prepared & laid under the other which had been sheeted, floor to ceiling to prevent contamination.

Big shift…

This was the first, and largest, phase. We prepared & laid 270m2 of Ucrete UD200 in a single shift. Many thanks to our guys for putting in a shift to ensure the floor was prepared & laid to an excellent standard.

We have four more phases to complete in a similar fashion, just leaving coved skirtings & joints to complete the installation.

Adverse Conditions…

Other industries benefit from phased installations, but it is those in food production which often throw up the biggest challenges. The areas will either be too hot – as in this case when installing alongside working ovens. Or too cold, for instance carrying out works once production has finished in a chilled facility. Or too wet & too cold, a fantastic combination we encounter all too often in fish or chicken factories!!!

Expert Advice…

The experience gained in delivering these projects in such conditions gives us the ability to confidently advise on most suitable products & realistic downtime. We have many products at our disposal, but have so far found the Ucrete FAST systems best suited to fast track food industry projects.
